 Norway is the first member country of NATO to select the HK416 for introduction as its standard assault rifle.

The value of the contract signed on the 12th of  April 2007 in Norway is in the two digit million order. The Norwegian government has reserved itself further delivery options.

After extensive product tests of all of the assault rifle systemssubmitted at tender, the Heckler & Koch HK416 was the outrightclear winner.

Norway has selected the modular HK416, one of the most modernassault rifles in the world. The HK416 will replace the previousstandard assault rifle of the Norwegian armed forces gradually. Firstdistribution will take place in the second half of 2007.
